P. Ramanathan graduated from University of London in 1992. Thereafter, he obtained the Certificate of Legal Practice in 1992. He commenced his pupillage with Messrs Darshan Singh & Co. and was called to the bar on 1st October 1993. In November 1993 he joined Messrs D.P. Rajah & Co. as a legal assistant. Then he joined Messrs V.P. Nathan & Partners in 1995 and left to join Messrs A. Tanasekharan in 1996. Thereafter, he rejoined V.P. Nathan on 1st October 1997 and was made a profit sharing partner on 1st January 1999 until to date. He has 25 years of experience in road traffic negligence cases comprising advisory and litigatory.
